Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, he attended Woodbury and Naugatuck High Schools. He was a Chemical Engineering major, on the Dean's List and held a five year scholarship. Don was a member of Davenport, Treasurer of Alpha Chi Sigma, and a member of A.I.Ch.E.

After receiving his B.A. degree he obtained an M.S. also at Yale and a Ph.D. from Indiana University. He began his career in teaching and later held positions in industry.

A Wauconda, Illinois, resident for seven years, he was employed as an NE applications specialist for Bron and Luebbe, Inc., in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

Besides his wife, Virginia Sitz Muller, he left his son and daughter, Hans Muller and Heidi Muller; two brothers, Robert Muller and William Muller, and one sister, Virginia (Muller) Eckert.
