HENRY ADAMS

Born: March 10, 1940
Died: February 21, 2001

Henry (Hank) Adams came to Yale from Deerfield Academy. He was a resident of Washington, Connecticut.

At Yale Hank was a member of Timothy Dwight College. He and Roger Terry were classmates at Deerfield and roomed together at Yale. Hank left Yale after Sophomore Year.

Roger remembers him as "a wonderfully talented fellow. He loved singing and was good at it. He was quite an accomplished pianist, more jazz than classical, but that is what we enjoyed back then. He and I were good friends at Deerfield, spending a lot of time working together as co-managers of the lacrosse team. We moved to TD and both joined St. Elmo Society. I am sure he was heading for the Yale Glee Club and a singing group. Looking back, he became increasingly depressed and finally left Yale."

Hank and TD roommate Bill Noble kept in touch over the years. Bill recalls that Hank was an avid racquetball and tennis player. Bill added that Hank sang with the "Augmented Seven" sophomore year and then served in the Army Reserve.

After he left Yale, Hank moved to California and graduated from Stanford University. He majored in history and continued his interest in music, founding what is now Stanford's oldest a cappella group, The Mendicants.

Hank was an investment broker with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. At the time of his death he resided in Portola Valley with his wife Pat. He was also survived by his two sons, Peter and Jonathan, his daughter Jennifer, his brother Whit and his sister Helen Polonitza.
